About the artist:
Kathleen DeFrancesco Smith was educated at Edgecliff College of Xavier University, and the Art Academy of Cincinnati. She has shown her work locally and throughout the Midwest in both commercial and academic venues.

Her artist's statement reveals that she has "always been drawn to abstraction.  Perhaps it is the almost unrestricted use of color that draws me.  I love color and love to find different combinations and under layers.  It has many moods.  My intuition guides me as I create, shaping the composition as it evolves.  It is in the act of painting and the objects, which result from that activity, which provide discovery for me."

In 2004 as well as 2005 she was juried into American Art Collector, a Juried Competion of New Work of Northern States Artists.

She currently has work in Gallery 22 in Montgomery, OH.  Her former gallery affiliation was the Suzanna Terrill Gallery in Cincinnati, OH.
